Literature Text

I declared war on my self one day,
And it hasn't ceased since.
I was born to fight
Against a Monster far greater than I
Could ever understand.
The city hemorrhages from the inside
As the world averts its eyes.
It's alright; they are my own scars.
Who else can taste the bitterness
Of my chains; of my lashes;
Of my imprisonment; of my anguish;
Of my own crown of thorns?

Despite it all, there will be a day
When the gnashing of teeth will end,
And the Dark shall flee with fear.
One day I will stand in triumph
With the other victorious soldiers
Amongst the ashes in the Sun.
My life has been an ongoing war against myself ever since the day I accepted Jesus Christ into my life.

If you want to imitate Christ, it means you must sacrifice all of yourself. However, just like the suffering Christ had before He died on the cross, in a way Christians will suffer too. In those times I know I want to hold on to parts of my life that I don't want to give up. It's also sometimes hard for me to imagine how anyone could understand my battles (refer to the poem lol).

God warned all of us that we as Christians will have suffering in this world. But He also tells us that our pain is for His glory, and we have the hope of one day joining Him in victory.

This poem is just a reminder to everyone and to myself that you are not alone.

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." ~ Romans 8:18

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed...[I]f you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?" ~ 1 Peter 4:12&13, 16&17

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." ~ 1 Peter 5:8 - 10

"So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." ~ 2 Timothy 1:8 - 10

Ever since I've become more religious, it's been afflicting for me since I have began to wonder what stuff I did was right.
